Arthur Gue Cissé

"We're racing against the clock, not against anyone.”

Born in 1996 in Man, Ivory Coast, Arthur Gue Cissé is an Ivorian sprinter. Spotted on a football field by his gym teacher, Arthur gradually discovered a talent for running, and for sprinting in particular. Still a junior, he took part in his first African Championships in 2014. In 2015, he won gold in the 4 x 100 m relay at the Pan-African Games in Brazzaville. At the “Jeux de la Francophonie” in 2017, he won three medals. In 2019, he set his best time and beat the Ivory Coast record with 9'93. In 2022, he won the gold medal in the 100 meters at the Islamic Solidarity Games.

 

 

Cheick Cissé

"Taekwondo is my whole life. It's not a job for me, it's a game.”

Born in Bouaké in 1993, Cheick Cissé Sallah Junior is a taekwondo champion from Côte d'Ivoire. From a very young age, he put his heart and soul into his discipline, winning everything in his path. Starting with the African Championships, which he won three times in 2014, 2016 and 2021, followed by the All-Africa Games, where he won the gold medal twice, in 2015 and 2019. But it was in 2016 that Cheick Cissé reached the grail by climbing to the top step of the podium at the Rio Olympic Games. Now champion in his world category thanks to his title in Baku in 2023 and flag-bearer for his country, the thirty-year-old from Côte d'Ivoire is the favorite for the Paris 2024 Games.

Esmei Anne-Marcelle Diombo

"Archery is an unfair sport, so you have to train hard."

Born in a small Ivorian village near Abidjan, Anne-Marcelle Diombo is an Ivorian archer. She made her international debut in 2018, then took part in the 2019 Pan-African Games. To everyone's surprise, she won gold in the individual event and silver in the women's team event. She won gold in the team event at the 2022 African Championships and silver in the mixed team event at the 2023 African Championships.
