Ahmed Fofana
"I was curious about every instrument I saw, and my challenge was to play without learning."
Ahmed Fofana is a multi-instrumentalist musician, arranger and director. Of Malian descent, he was born in Ivory Coast, to a family of griots. As a child, he grew up surrounded by music - flute, balafon, kora and percussions. For over 15 years, he has worked with some of Africa’s greatest artists (Toumani Diabaté, Amadou and Mariam, Ray Lema, Cheick Tidiane Seck, Vieux Farka Touré...) and international artists (Bjork, Damon Albarn, Dee Dee Bridgewater...).
Amadou Sanogo
"I see myself more as a researcher in the world of painting."
Amadou Sanogo is a Malian painter, born in Ségou. He studies at the National Institute of Arts in Bamako, one of the most renowned art schools in West Africa. His paintings tell his life story, the history of Mali, and the everyday life of its inhabitants. He is represented by the MAGNIN-A gallery in Paris.
Bibata Maiga
"I didn't choose dance, it chose me."
Born in Gao (Mali) in 1993, Bibata Maiga is a young dancer and choreographer with a degree from the Balla Fasséké Kouyaté Conservatory of Multimedia Arts in Bamako and the École des Sables in Toubab Dialaw (Senegal). She is the founder and president of I Dance'O, a non-profit association that promotes peace and national unity through dance.
