To mark International Women’s Day on 8 March, we’re shining a light on two committed and inspiring women who are leaders in the field of digital tech.
Gender equality, central to our strategy
At Orange, we firmly believe that gender diversity is a powerful enabler for a company’s sustainable performance and employee well-being. High-tech professions are highly employable jobs of the future within our rapidly changing digital world. However, to date, only 21.9% of women within the Group work in these sectors out of a total of 36.2% employees in 2023.
To help us achieve our commitments, we have incorporated a proactive policy into our governance to ensure greater equality. We’ve also launched the international Hello Women program which is supported by concrete actions to promote these professions to women.
Joint interview
Mari-Noëlle Jégo-Laveissière, EVP and CEO of Orange in Europe (outside France), which is committed to promoting women in tech and diversity, explains how the Group plans to reach 25% female representation in technical and digital professions by 2025.
We need to retain our talent and develop it. There may also be women who didn’t start out in a tech role but with a little training could move into one.
Dr. Dinh-Thuy Phan-Huy, Research Project manager and Referent for Orange Expertise / Networks of the Future at Orange, tells us more about her career challenges and successes that led her to become a Hello Women Role Model and how she intends to encourage more women into high-tech positions.
You become a role model through your role, especially if you’re representing the activities within your area. I represent Orange within our international research ecosystems.
