For a safer, more responsible digital world

We champion a vision of a positive digital world where technology is ethical, responsible, and inclusive. We’re committed to using digital technology to enable a more open, fair, and secure society, where everyone has the same opportunities, rights, and individual freedoms. This means proactively strengthening online security and fighting cybercrime through initiatives that inform and protect users. As a major high-tech player, building a safer digital world is one of our primary responsibilities.

Protecting people's digital life

Have you ever thought about the hidden risks behind your purchases, games, or file shares? Are you sure that your confidential data won’t fall into the wrong hands and that your children are staying safe online?

The growth of digital uses exposes people to growing threats and risks, increasing their need for protection:

Whether messaging each other, browsing the web, playing games, or shopping we’re constantly sharing data, content, and files that may contain confidential or sensitive information.

Cybercrime is increasing and becoming more professional, attacks (viruses, phishing, ransomware, fraudulent text messages, etc.) are multiplying and scams are becoming more difficult to detect.

Online abuse is on the rise, as is hate speech and cyberbullying among young people, as well as screen addiction, which impacts well-being.

What is Orange's role ?

Faced with these challenges, digital players need to do more to keep users safe.

Our business activity means we play a central role in today’s digital issues: we are the backbone of this ecosystem. We’re a trusted partner for all our stakeholders. This trust commits us individually and collectively, which is why we act responsibly throughout our operations, in accordance with changes in business regulation, and by adopting appropriate behavior in the face of ever-increasing and sophisticated cyber threats.

Christel Heydemann, CEO of the Orange Group

Our commitment is not limited to our services: we have a social responsibility towards our users. As members of the Global Network Initiative, we stand for freedom of expression and privacy, and these values guide us in everything we do.

Protecting young people and children in a connected world

Screens are everywhere, a fact of life that is affecting young people’s mental and physical health. That’s why we’re proactively raising awareness of the risks and dangers among young people along with the best practices to adopt.

In line with our purpose, we’re strengthening our long-standing commitment to protect young people against the inherent risks of digital technology (cyberbullying, online hate, and screen addiction).
We accept our responsibility to help keep children safe, which is why we launched the For Good Connections initiative on Safer Internet Day in February 2024.

Digital best practices: everyone’s responsibility

Faced with the increase in cyberattacks, people are increasingly exposed, but rarely well protected. That’s why we’re launching “Orange Cybersecure”, a complete cybersecurity solution for consumers in France, and soon on the international stage.

Two Orange Cybersecure solutions :

  • Verification portal: free and accessible to all, you can check the legitimacy of a link, site, email, or SMS. The database is enriched by AI to keep up with new forms of online scams.

  • Orange Cybersecure pack: for €7/month, Orange/Sosh customers can protect up to 10 devices, block unwanted calls, and benefit from specialist cyber support 7 days a week.

As a responsible operator and European leader in cybersecurity, we provide all the tools you need to adopt responsible digital practices in your daily life.

We continue to prevent cyber threats and developments and as the landscape changes we keep people informed and raise awareness of new vulnerabilities among all stakeholders.

Educating people on digital tools to prevent threats

Access to digital tools has become essential to avoid social exclusion. That’s why, by 2030, we aim to train 6 million people through workshops and educational programs on the use of digital tools. This is the foundation of digital equality, where everyone benefits from the opportunities it brings. Education and awareness are crucial to protecting people against digital risks such as disinformation and cyber threats.

Our Orange Digital Centers are open to everyone and offer complete courses to understand digital technology, uses, and abuses, while learning how to make the most of it.

Ensuring privacy and data security

With more and more services going digital, personal data has become an essential issue. The Group is committed to guaranteeing data confidentiality (for customers, employees, and partners) based on international standards and strict compliance with regulations such as the GDPR.

We don’t read the content of your messages, text messages, or emails, and we don’t listen to your conversations. We respect the confidentiality and therefore ensure a secure communications environment.

Dedicated teams of Data Protection Offices apply best practices and carry out ongoing audits to protect the Group’s information. In 2023, more than 1,000 technical audits and 100,000 automated audits were carried out. Our commitments are also relayed to our subcontractors and partners.

Empowering innovation in the face of AI

We are committed to identifying the risks associated with AI and protecting human rights. To ensure inclusive and ethical digital technology, in March 2021 we created a Data and AI Ethics Council, responsible for ensuring ethical principles are applied to these technologies, and we’ve since adopted their ethics charter.
In November 2022, we launched the Positive AI initiative, together with other companies, to promote responsible AI.

By taking part in committees like Impact IA, we are working towards a safer digital world, where innovation respects core social values.
