As part of its ambitious environmental strategy aiming to achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040, Orange is intensifying its actions to reduce the carbon footprint of its value chain. Launched in July 2024 and reaffirmed in the new strategic plan "Trust the Future", the Partners to Net Zero Carbon program embodies a collaborative approach essential to mobilize the Group's strategic suppliers around common decarbonization objectives.

With an intermediate goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 45% by 2030 compared to 2020 (scopes 1, 2, and 3), Orange acts on three main levers: energy transition, supplier engagement, and circular economy development. The program primarily targets emissions related to procurement, which account for over 80% of the Group's Scope 3 emissions.

On the occasion of Change Now 2026, held in Paris from March 30 to April 1, Orange invites all its stakeholders to commit throughout the entire value chain to amplify decarbonization and transition toward a more sustainable model.

A strengthened partnership with suppliers to reduce the carbon footprint

The PTNZC program aims to transform the relationship between Orange and its suppliers into a true decarbonization partnership, based on transparency, co-creation, and continuous improvement.

Orange is prioritizing collaboration with its top 40 most emission-intensive suppliers, representing approximately 60% of the carbon emissions related to procurement. These suppliers are involved in defining, implementing, and managing contractual progress plans. These plans aim notably to:

  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with the products and services supplied to Orange;
  • Improve the quality and accuracy of Scope 3 carbon reporting;
  • Encourage sustainable transformation across the entire industrial ecosystem and supply chain.

Within this framework, suppliers commit to more precisely measuring the carbon footprint of their solutions, identifying reduction levers in their manufacturing processes, equipment usage, transportation, and logistics. They will also monitor measurable environmental performance indicators over time. In turn, Orange commits to leveraging supplier advancements through the design of its networks and products and through equipment selection.

Concrete initial commitments

To date, 10 European and Chinese suppliers have already signed progress plans with Orange such as Camusat, Sagemcom, Acome, Nokia, Honor, Xiaomi, Ericsson, Sogetrel, and the latest, Huawei. These partners operate in various fields, ranging from infrastructure equipment and services to network devices and smartphones.

This collaborative approach involves the entire ecosystem—technical prescribers, procurement teams, and industrial partners—to identify and deploy the most effective decarbonization actions.

A practical and collaborative approach

The Partners to Net Zero Carbon program is based on operational and measurable logic. Decarbonization levers can be activated by both suppliers and Orange, for example, through evolving technical specifications, optimizing logistics processes, or adapting procurement criteria.

By working directly at the product and service level, Orange focuses its efforts where environmental impact is most significant and helps accelerate the sustainable transformation of its entire value chain.

Elizabeth Tchoungui, Group Executive Director, who is in charge of CSR, commented:

"Trust is the foundation of our commitment to a sustainable future. Through Partners to Net Zero Carbon, we mobilize our strategic suppliers to better achieve our carbon reduction goals. Together, we act to demonstrate that a world where technology and responsibility go hand in hand is possible. Together, we collaborate and reduce the carbon footprint of our activities and ecosystem."
