Our audiovisual TV show «Y'Africa» promotes African culture in all its forms. Senegal showcases its artists.

Doulsy

Doulsy

Doulsy is a vibrant young stylist and fashion designer who is fully at ease with his Baye Fall identity. He has lived in Dakar since childhood and began designing at the age of 7. Today, he has evolved in an Afro-futuristic, avant-garde direction, using materials from old recycled clothing. With an innate gift for collage, he willingly combines traditional and modern, feminine and masculine, simple and glamorous, chic and street... and breathes life into what is dead. His work is a lively mix - surprising, unpredictable, and always distinctive.

Khoudia Touré

A spearhead of Senegal’s underground hip-hop scene, Khoudia Touré is a dancer, performer, and choreographer. She is a pioneer, known for her passion, adventurous spirit, and commitment to enriching dance in Africa. Educated in France, the UK, and the US, she returned to her African roots in 2012 and has since received recognition in many street dance competitions and tournaments. Since 2016, she is one of the choreographers and founding members of the Compagnie La Mer Noire, a hip-hop dance collective based in Dakar.

Mara Seck

Mara Seck

Modernizing a traditional recipe is quite a challenge. By creating Guiss Bou Bess in 2016, Senegalese Mara Seck, bearer of the Sabar heritage, his percussionist companion Babacar Diop, and French sociologist and beat-maker Stephane Costantini have taken the gamble to breathe new life into one of Teranga’s most mystical musical styles. Thanks to them, bustling working-class neighborhoods of Dakar, like the Medina where Mara grew up, have become a lab where sounds and atmospheres are captured, drums are recorded, and the beats of tomorrow are produced.

Kassou Seydou

Starting from the observation that everything is writing, and that writing is just a deformed line, Kassou Seydou, born in 1971 in Ziguinchor, conceptualizes this idea by reproducing curvilinear patterns that animate his paintings. His work, poetic and close to the narrative, reveals a vision of an altered and complex world. With his warm palette and lively characters, the artist attests to a world in disorder. Each canvas is a mysterious tale born from the artist’s vision, an allegory illustrated by a series of symbols borrowed from various cultures, temporalities, and geographies.
