Building on our partnership with the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games and our ongoing actions to promote a safer digital world, Orange organized a “Good connections” event on 15 May 2024. This initiative brought together more than 2,000 young people aged 10 to 14 in France and Luxembourg to raise awareness of good digital practices through sport and the values of Paris 2024. Here are the highlights of a day dedicated to coming together to share and unite.
“Not just sport...”: promoting
-
inclusion through sport
As part of this initiative, young people from urban communities and others with disabilities met in seven regions in France (including two French overseas departments: Les Abymes in Guadeloupe, Saint-Denis de La Réunion and five in mainland France: Lille, Issy-les-Moulineaux, Marseille, Bordeaux, and Nantes) to take part in special sports workshops. These were led by more than 200 Orange volunteer employees, partner amateur football and rugby clubs, and disabled sports associations. We wanted to create a space where diversity is celebrated, and sport becomes a powerful expression of unity and solidarity.
Orange is not just a telecoms operator. We fully invest our role in raising awareness of digital issues.
-
digital security through sport
Our main goal is to educate young people about the dangers of cyberbullying while promoting digital inclusion. During this event, cyberbullying awareness workshops and quizzes were followed by constructive discussions with the young participants on the inherent risks of the web and smartphones that they’ve grown up with.
Team sports bring young people together around positive values. It's also a way for us to raise awareness about cyberbullying.
An approach in line with Orange’s commitment
“Good connections” part of our “For Good Connections” initiative, launched to mark Safer Internet Day 2024 and show our commitment to protecting young people against digital risks, such as cyberbullying and screen addiction. We’ve always been proactive about helping parents and children use our services securely across our footprint in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. Much more than a local event on French soil, it represents our mission to provide real-world solutions that promote a safer internet far beyond our borders.
As a Premium Partner of Paris 2024, we’re proud to launch this major sporting initiative Good connections, which through its scope and scale throughout the country will help us reach more young people to give them the keys to a safer digital world.
Shared values through our Paris 2024 partnership
By choosing cities in mainland France that are hosting events at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, we’re strengthening our commitment to a safer and more inclusive digital world, drawing inspiration from the core values embodied by the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games: excellence, friendship, respect, courage, determination, inspiration, and equality.
A day to celebrate responsible digital technology
Through awareness-raising workshops, interactive quizzes, and meetings with famous sports stars, we’re showing our tangible contribution to building a safer environment where young people can thrive online.
Going forward, we’ll continue to play a leading role in promoting the responsible and ethical use of digital technology, while encouraging the sporting values of Paris 2024 among younger generations.
Good connections is a truly rewarding experience for the children and for us. If we had to do it again,We wouldn't hesitate for a second!
