Hyperconnection and cyberbullying: a major challenge for young people

Smartphones, tablets, computers... screens are everywhere — bringing both opportunities and risks. While digital tools unlock extraordinary pathways for learning and social connection, they can also become traps. Too much screen time can lead to isolation, sleep disorders, musculoskeletal strain and other issues that affect children’s overall health. Globally, one in three children with online access is affected by cyberbullying, according to Philip Jaffé of the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. A recent study found that in France, 23% of children are impacted. And the consequences are serious: victims are three times more likely to suffer from anxiety and depression, increasing the risk of long-term psychological distress (UNICEF Innocenti Research Centre).

#ForGoodConnections, our commitment to a safer online world

Launched in February 2024, our #ForGoodConnections initiative reflects our mission as a responsible operator. It focuses on three goals: promoting healthier digital habits, reducing children’s screen time and actively combating cyberbullying.
To achieve this, we’re adopting a 360° approach : Support for partner organizations, Awareness workshops to teach safe online habits and social media reflexes, Innovative products and services designed to help families adopt safer digital practices — including offers created specifically to guide children in the use of their first smartphone. Because this important milestone should come with more than just a phone plan!

Working collectively
to better protect children

At Orange, we know that we’re stronger together! That’s why we collaborate with expert organizations such as e-Enfance and Internet Sans Crainte in France, WeTechCare in Belgium, the Empowering Children Foundation in Poland and the Malian chapter of the Internet Society. And because children are the focus of these initiatives, we also listen to them!
